Our Purpose and Goals of Service
Our Behavior Intervention program is based on current best practices in applied behavior analysis (ABA), with the enhancement of treatment from relationship and play-based theories, including Stanley Greenspan’s Floortime Model. In the proposed Behavior Intervention (BI) program design, the developmentally-appropriate services would be provided in each child’s individual natural environment with a staff to child ratio of 1:1. To promote each child’s individual overall development, the team at Keany & Associates, Inc. will follow a multidisciplinary team approach. In this approach the team at Keany & Associates, Inc. will work closely with the child’s caregivers and other service providers to ensure that there is generalization of specific strategies and techniques from one session to the next. Our Plan
We will follow a family-centered philosophy, supporting interactions between the caregivers and the child to promote the child’s optimal development. We will provide the families and caregivers with the tools needed to assist their child in maximizing his/her developmental potential through play. Families and caregivers will be expected to be both active participants and observers, when appropriate during their child’s early intervention sessions. The team at Keany & Associates, Inc. will model a variety of strategies and techniques for the families/caregivers to use with their child throughout their daily routine. We have formal training in Floortime, ABA, PECS, CPI, American Sign Language (ASL), and sensory integration techniques. These techniques will be used in a fluid way to assist the family members with joyfully helping their child grow while curbing the challenging behavior(s).
Our Behavior Intervention Team
Clinically, all programs at Keany and Associates are supervised by Jennifer Keany, MFT. The on-site supervisor for the Behavior Intervention program is Sam Bakhoum. Sam has his master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and has worked with special needs children and adults for 9 years. He will be overseeing the daily operation of your child's program and provide valuable parent training and support. The behaviorists providing direct service to our clients have worked in the field for several years and have shown a commitment to this field, their clients and to continually learning to help the clients they serve.
Our staff is as diverse as the population that we plan to serve in the West Los Angeles County area. Their cultural experiences will help in the understanding of the differences of each family and their needs. |
